Where help a girl out when it comes to finding your dream wedding dress. Here are our top 10 tips to help you find the wedding dress of your dreams.
1. Do Research to Find What You Like
Now that he put a ring on it, it’s time to search for your dream gown. What do you like? My suggestion, sign into Pinterest and create a board strictly dedicated to your dream wedding dress. Name it Wedding- My dream dress
Unsure how to start planning with Pinterest,
2. Be Open
I find it oh so many times that the dress you had dreamed of might not actually be the one. Keep an open mind because finding the perfect dress just might be different than you imagined.
3. Brace Yourself for Bridal Sizing
Ok, love, I need you to know before you go shopping, embrace yourself. Wedding dress sizes are different than your normal dress size. Expect to increase your size up 1 or 2 sizes. But don’t worry about it, no one will know your dress size there only looking at how gorgeous you are.
4. Shop True to Your Size
Time and time again I hear my brides say they plan to lose weight shop true to size. If you do in fact lose weight, that’s why you have alterations J
5. Shop Early
It takes time to have your dream dress made. In most cases, it takes 4 to 8 months for your dress to come in. Plan to start shopping at least 9 months out. If you plan to buy off the rack, at least 5-6 months out.
6. Know Your Budget
Before you shop, know your budget. Many times again I hear my clients say, my grandmother, my mother, etc… will buy my dress. Then when my bride starts shopping and falls in love with a 5k dress but Nana says that’s to0 much, it’s hard for you to fall in love with something else. Don’t go shopping without a NUMBER.
7. Plan for non-obvious expenses
If your dress budget is $2,000.00 then plan to spend $1,000.00. Dress alterations average $500.00 and don’t forget your bridal accessories (veil, jewelry, and shoes).
8. Call ahead & make an appointment
Before you start shopping in salons, call ahead. Find out their average dress and in house alteration costs. Once you find a shop in your price range, MAKE AN APPOINTMENT. Wedding dress shopping takes time to make an appointment to get the undivided attention you deserve.
9. Choose Your Crew Wisely for Appointments
When it comes to dressing shopping, of course, you want all your friends, mom, future mom, grandma, etc. But reality trying to get all of them to agree on a dress is an impossible mission. My recommendation is to have no more than three (3) by your side.
10. Bring the heals you’ll wear on your wedding day.
Certain silhouettes look differently depending on the shoes you wear. If you’re planning to wear keds/Kate Spades bring them or something similar. Then you’ll know exactly what you’ll look like on your wedding day minus the hair and make-up.
